Huckleberry Finn Chapters 22,23, & 24 |

Chapter 22 begins with the town forming an angry mob, in a hurry for a lynching! Sheburn has just shot Boggs and the towns people are ready for justice. They get to Sheburn's house, and see he is on his roof. Sheburn begins his speech with, "The idea of you lynching anybody! It's amusing!" His lecture continues as he tells the villagers they are cowards and could not possibly kill anyone without the protection of the darkness, masks, and one strong leader. Sheburn finishes talking and everyone becomes cowardice and scurries away.
Huckleberry watches and decides to leave too. As he leaves he decides to go to the circus. Click here to view his circus adventure. He views the ladies and gentlemen, the ring leader, and the clown. His favorite is the drunk man on the horse who turns out to be a circus performer himself.
The King and Duke's show is scheduled for that night. It fails miserably, so the king takes notice of the circus' popularity and decides to give the people what they want. If they want comedy, that is what he will give them! The king made new fliers and began to pass them out. NO WOMEN OR CHILDREN ALLOWED. |
